Q and A: What is involved in the classroom and pool sessions?

The classroom schedule involves a video, lecture, knowledge review, and test. We will start by viewing a video for the class. Each session the instructor will collect and review your knowledge reviews out of your book. (PADI standards and Federal copyright laws require each student to have their own book and turn in original reviews only, no photocopies).

Next, the instructor will give a short lecture to expand upon and clarify the information in the video and the book. Finally there is a 10 question multiple question quiz. If you do not pass one or more of the quizzes you can retake it with one of our instructors at any time during normal store hours. We review all missed questions to ensure you have the skills required to make your diving more fun, enjoyable, and safer.

The pool is next. Each session in the pool will involve Scuba (except for any orientation sessions). You will be using full Scuba equipment to make your pool dives. Pool dive skills are easy to do, but if you have a problem with a skill we will work with you until that skill is mastered. Because of the access we have to our pool we do not have to limit your time in the pool or charge you for that extra instruction time. Various skills and safety procedures will be practiced.

You'll be shown different methods for each skill to let you choose the one that works best for you. Throughout the course you will be given "play time" to become more comfortable with the equipment.
